Ossining Court Consolidation Approved In Albany

Court Consolidation... Just another way Ossining Boards are working to save Taxpayers Dollars.

You may remember last year I stood on the steps of Village Hall and requested we move forward with court consolidation by submitting a "Home Rule" request in Albany in order to begin the consolidation process. The passage of this request allows the Village to dissolve their court should the Board agree to do so, and provide Ossining with one court saving taxpayers dollars in the long run. The "Home Rule" passage does NOT state we must do anything at all. It is a document that gives us that option.

There have been many blogs and articles expressing many opinions and thoughts on this matter and opinions and thoughts are well received by both Boards. However, it is NOW the work and compromise must begin. There are details that must be worked out between the Village and Town. Lets just step back, not be in judgment, and let the committee come up with the final plan. I personally would like to thank the Village and Town who steer this committee, and our representatives in Albany for passing the "Home Rule" and allowing the discussions to begin prior to their summer recess. Consolidation of the courts is just one more way of Ossining working together to save residents dollars. I am all for it!

As a side note: I would like to mention, that my blog voices my opinions and thoughts only, and does not reflect the opinions of the Village Board.
