Town of Ossining Tax Foreclosure Auction

The Town of Ossining has scheduled an Auction on Foreclosed Properties to be held on Aug. 14, 2013.

The Bidding will start at 1:00 PM at the Ossining Town/Village Municipal Building at 16 Croton Ave, in Ossining.

This marks the first Foreclosure Auction in 7 Years.  The Town rarely takes properties, because the Town Tax Office works hard to assist Taxpayers in getting all delinquent taxes paid before the Town takes a Judgment of Foreclosure.  Generally, the only properties the Town takes after an In Rem Foreclosure action are those with more than three years of delinquent taxes  that have been abandoned by their owners.  The last auction was exactly 7 years ago, in August of 2006, when 37 people applied and qualified to bid on three properties, including a condo and vacant land.

Only Qualified Bidders can participate in the Auction.  To qualify, a bidder must sign a copy of the Town Conditions of Sale, complete an application form, and present these to the Tax Office in person with a certified bank check for $2,500 which will be held in escrow until the sale is completed.  Winning bidders must pay the balance of their bid within 45 days, while unsuccessful bidders will receive their checks back as soon as the bidding ends.
People interested in the property at 94 State Street may come to an open house to tour the premises which will be held on Aug. 7 from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. It's a 3-bedroom home, with a walk-up attic and full basement and the opening bid is $49,000.

The vacant land offered consists of two lots on Priestly Street that can be previewed at any time. They are to be sold together at an opening bid of $28,000.  Priestley Street is a paper street off Agate Avenue in the Village of Ossining.
