Former Croton Manager Gets Permanent Post

Former Croton Village Manager Richard Herbek has a new permanent position in Newburgh

Former Croton-on-Hudson Village Manager Richard Herbek has become the City of Newburgh's city manager for a new one-year term. Herbek has held the title of acting city manager since September 2009.

Back in 2008 Herbek announced that he was retiring as Croton-on-Hudson's village manager during a Village Board of Trustees meeting. His retirement became effective in March of 2008. Herbek's retirement signaled the end of an era. He served the village as manager for 27 years—a post which he stepped into in December of 1980. More than two decades later he was succeeded by Village Treasurer Abe Zambrano.

Herbek says one of his major goal in Newburgh is to turn around the city's finances. The City of Newburgh has not had a permanent city manager since 2009.
