Croton Police: Craigslist Fraud, Air Conditioner on Route 9

Statue Larceny

On July 8 at 7:15 p.m. a Maple Street resident reported to Croton police damage to an imported stone statue on their property as well as the loss of an antique garden pot. The case is under investigation and the value of the items was not yet known, police said. 

Air-Con in the Roadway

An air conditioner was reportedly causing a hazardous condition in the roadway on July 9 at 3:45 p.m.

Police responded to the call that there an air conditioner on Route 9 south near Croton Point Avenue but found nothing upon their arrival, they said.

Fire Fire

An Albany Post Road man called police on July 10 at 2:11 a.m. to say that he had been awakened by a woman outside his home shouting "fire fire." Police found nothing upon their arrival.

Craigslist Fraud

A woman reported to Croton police that she had lost money in a bad Craigslist transaction. 

At 6:39 p.m. on July 10 the Croton resident reported she had advertised merchandise for sale on Craigslist. Someone had sent her two money grams totaling $900. She withdrew money in return from her own back account and sent two Western Union money orders back to the sender, only to find out the original money grams were fraudulent.
