Ossining and Croton Celebrate Hudson Valley Restaurant Week(s)

On Friday, which also happened to be Westchester County's 330th birthday, County Executive Robert Astorino, inaugurated another two weeks of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week in Tarrytown's new RiverMarket bar and kitchen.

Alongside Astorino was Janet Crawshaw, Hudson Valley Restaurant Week Founder, Natasha Caputo, Director of the County's Office of Tourism, RiverMarket Owner Glenn Vogt, and Executive Chef John Holzwarth.

From the birthday cake photo op, it was onto the kitchen, when Holzwarth walked Astorino through some hands-on gnocchi preparation, kneading the organic dough, forming each pasta bite, and then dropping it all into a big vat of boiling water for a few quick minutes.

The pasta was topped with a beef bolognese sauce and maitake mushroom. "Very good. Really really good," Astorino said, between bites and the flash of news cameras.

Participating in the two-week prix fixe lunch and dinner bargains from Nov. 4 to Nov. 17 are Croton and Ossining restaurants:

  • Sala-on-Hudson in Croton,
  • Goldfish Restaurant in Ossining,
  • and Keenan House Kitchen and Tap in Ossining.
