Ossining's Michael G. O’Connor to be Honored

O'Connor will be recognized for his community service, as well as his service to American Legion Post 506.

Thanks to American Legion Post 506 for the following:

On Sunday Afternoon, August 19, 2012, at our annual Post Clambake, The Officers and Members of Ossining American Legion Post 506 will honor fellow Legionnaire Michael G. O’Connor for his many years of service to American Legion Post 506, and our Ossining Community.

Michael G. O’Connor joined the Ossining Post 506 American Legion in 1987, and is a forty seven (47) year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Michael served in the United States Army from Oct 63 to Oct 66, and serviced in Vietnam from Apr 65 to Apr 66.

Michael has served as Post Vice Commander and other Post Officer positions for the last fifteen years. Additionally, as Chair of the Town of Ossining Central Committee of Organized War Veterans, Michael has overseen our annual Grave Decoration Program, Memorial Day Parade Program, Veterans Day Program, and Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Program.

Michael has served the Town of Ossining for sixteen (16) years as a Town Councilman, and now is the elected Superintendent of Highways.  Michael has served for the last thirty seven (37) years as a Volunteer Fireman with the Ossining Fire Department.  Michael has always stepped up to take on and support local charities events here in our community.

Michael has been married to his wife Mary for Forty Four (44) Years, and they have three (3) grown Daughters, and four (4) grandchildren.
