POLL: Should the Jets Make a Play for Peyton?

If the Colts give him up, that is. A man's gotta work.

Ever since the Jets drafted Mark Sanchez fifth overall in 2009, Gang Green’s faithful fans have been waiting for the Sanchize’s talent to match his celebrity.

March 8 marks the day that Indianapolis Colts Owner Jim Irsay has to make a decision on bringing back superstar quarterback Peyton Manning, or letting him go without paying him his $28 million bonus.

Manning has dominated commercial breaks for years and his Saturday Night Livemonologue and sketches show you that he has no issues with the bright lights of the Big Apple.

Now the biggest question facing New Yorkers is, do you think the Jets should make a run at the NFL’s only four-time MVP if he becomes available?

Take the Daily Sports Digest's weekly poll and tell us why you feel that way in the comments.

He's probably not going to the Jets anyway so it's moot but as Jets fan I am torn. In one sense of course I would LOVE Peyton Manning on the Jets, who wouldn't. I wish he would've came out after his junior year when we had the No. 1 pick way back when. On the other hand, is he going to be healthy? That's the $64,000 question. And despite his poor year (Don't care what his stats were, we all know he regressed), I actually like Sanchez a lot, he's my favorite Jet. If they can improve things around him, most notably the line, I think Sanchez will be fine. I mean he has won four road playoff games, including two against Manning and Brady on the road. But after saying that, if you have a chance, even if it's a small one, you have to look into getting Manning. Whatever the case is, I just hope he doesn't go to Miami. Anywhere else would be fine.

And to add to Mark's point, and I have no idea if this is true or not, but there was also talk of Chad Henne, Tony Sparano's (Jets offensive coordinator) QB at Miami, coming in to be the back up. Talk about making things interesting.

I have to think that Peyton's health is worth more then $64,000 but I cant see Peyton and the "Aw Shucks" attitude playing for Rex Ryan or playing for the biggest ground and pound offensive coordinator in Tony Sparano. I am hoping he goes to Arizona to team up with an offensive minded coach and one of the best wide receivers in the league. Seeing that combo for the next three years would be fun.

I remember when Peyton shunned the Jets by staying an extra year in college NOT to be drafted...How about the Favre debacle?? Give Sanchez one more chance under the new O coordinator..

John if you remember correctly Peyton "shunned" the Jets to stay an extra year because Bill Parcells refused to guarantee the Manning family that Peyton would go first. Can you really argue that the NFL's ONLY four time M.V.P. didnt make the right choice for himself in that instant?
