Take Part in the Ossining Superintendent Selection

The Board of Education has announced three openings on the Superintendent Search Committee.

Three community members are able to join the Superintendent Search Committee in Ossining, Board of Education President Bill Kress said in a districtwide O-Blast.

"The Board of Education of the Ossining Union Free School District is seeking candidates for three at-large openings on our Superintendent Search Committee," Kress wrote. "Candidates will need to commit to sign a strict confidentiality agreement as well as to commit to at least four nights of meetings in early to mid February."

Dr. Phyllis Glassman has served as the district's superintendent since 2007 and plans to retire this month.

Upon her retirement, Deputy Superintendent Raymond Sanchez will take over as interim superintendent.

The district previously asked for community input through a survey and at four public community forums at the end of November and beginning of December.

The district also chose to utilize Putnam-Northern Westchester BOCES, of which it is a member, to serve as a search consultant during the superintendent selection process.

If you would like to take part in the next steps of the process, contact Ileana Ortiz at 914-941-7700 ext. 1317 or iortiz@ossining.k12.ny.us to request an application.

Members of the search committee will be responsible for interviewing potential candidates and submitting feedback to the Board of Education, which will ultimately choose "the best candidate to fill the position," according to Kress.

Committee applications are due by Friday, Jan. 18.
