Police: Female Croton Student Says Man Tried to Lure Her Out of School

A female elementary school student says that an unidentified man tried to get her to leave the grounds of CET Elementary School.

A third-grade Student at told investigators that a man tried to lure her out of the school, according to Croton-on-Hudson Police. Investigators say the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. today.

The unidentified third-grader says that she was in the hall when the man approached her. The man is being described as a white male, with blondish hair. The female student says that she thinks the man was about six-feet tall, because that is the height of her father. The student also says that the man was dressed in a black jacket, black shirt, with black pants, black shoes and a black briefcase.

Croton Police say that the third-grader went back and fourth regarding a detail in her story about the man offering her candy.

"Candy was mentioned, then it wasn't, then it was mentioned," said Croton Det. Sgt. John Nikitopoulos.

Police say the student reported the incident to a teacher. The teacher then relayed the incident to the school's administration. The administration in turn reported the incident to Croton Police.

After police got the call, they conducted a search of the area and interviewed individuals at the school.

Patch asked Det. Sgt. Nikitopoulos if police are reviewing videotape from the school's security cameras.

"According to the school they don't have any, but we are still looking into things," said Nikitopoulos.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the man around 2:30 - 3 p.m. to give them a call at 271-5177.

Croton-on-Hudson Police say the investigation is ongoing.
