A Special Summer Camp Challenges Ossining Middle Schoolers

“Let the creativity begin,” announced Superintendent Ray Sanchez on his Twitter feed to announce the beginning of Innovation Camp for Ossining middle schoolers this summer.

The camp, officially called Technology Innovation Summer Academy, in its inaugural year, was held at Brookside School and funded by Ossining Matters.

It’s less making volcanoes explode with baking soda and more “programming and computer tech,” Sanchez said.

The students spent one week turning everyday objects into touchpads and another mastering Lego robotics.

"Kids are really enjoying learning skills that are very current," Sanchez said. "We’re thrilled with how it went.”
