Town Officials To Nix Briarcliff Annexation

Briarcliff Manor won't get its hands on the North State Road business corridor if the Ossining Town Board has the last word.

The board members are set to vote tonight on Briarcliff's proposal to annex two voting districts that include the business district that has grown rapidly since the town connected it to the municipal sewer system.

"The Town Board is of the belief that an assumed tax savings is not an appropriate reason to seek annexation, although the Town’s research has uncovered no appreciable tax savings for any parties involved, especially residents of Districts 17 and 20.  Furthermore, the remainder of the Unincorporated Area would see a significant increase in taxes, coupled with a likely layoff of Town employees," officials said on the town website.

The meeting is 7:30PM tonight at 88 Spring St.
