RELEASE: Additional Croton Facilities Opened

The Village has made as many repairs as possible to open as many facilities as possible before the holiday weekend.

Based on a review and tour of all Village facilities, this morning, Friday, September 2, 2011, the Village has decided to open the following facilities as of 3 pm today:

Echo Canoe and Boat Launch – at South end of Croton-Harmon Train Station
Kaplans Pond
Senasqua Park


Due to damage sustained during Tropical Storm Irene, and the subsequent extreme high water conditions in the Croton River, the following Village facilities remain closed for the duration of the Labor Day Weekend through Tuesday September 6, 2011:

Silver Lake Beach and Recreation Area – beach under water and unsafe swimming conditions
Mayo’s Landing – deep erosion gullies on access slope and unsafe water swimming conditions
Black Rock Park and Dog Park – extreme high water conditions, sink holes and heavy surface erosion, unstable shoreline conditions, and dog park fencing has been partially uprooted and damaged

The Village has made as many repairs as possible to open as many facilities as possible before the holiday weekend.  As a result 15 of our 18 public recreational facilities are open for your enjoyment this weekend.
