Ossining's Mary Wu on Capitol Hill Today

Ossining's Mary Wu is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to her work with organ donation and transplant organizations, but today she's heading to Capitol Hill to take on arthritis.

Ossining's will join the Arthritis Foundation today for a Capitol Hill briefing to boost physical activity among adults with arthritis. Ms. Wu, who has osteoarthritis on her hip, osteopenia of her lumbar spine, and avascular necrosis, is an arthritis ambassador and currently training for the 2012 .

The briefing tomorrow will largely discuss the Arthritis Foundation’s new report which outlines how businesses, the community, and health providers can make physical activity more convenient and accessible for adults with arthritis. Arthritis currently affects 50 million Americans and is the nation’s most common cause of disability.

will be joined by Dr. John Klippel, CEO of the Arthritis Foundation, and Dr. Wayne Giles, Director, Division of Population Health, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More than 25 of the nation’s leading health organizations have already signed on as sponsors of this event.
