Potato Thrown, Treed Cat: Ossining Town Police Blotter

Nov. 25 – 6:53 p.m. – A resident of Spring Pond Road contacted Westchester County Police because her cat was about 50 feet up a tree and would not come down.  An officer provided the woman with the name and phone number of a local animal trapper who responded and was able to remove the cat safely from the tree.
2:49 p.m. – A resident of North State Road complained to county police about loud noise coming from a nearby business. An officer responded and could not detect any noise. Staff members of the business told the officer they had been clearing debris that resulted from Hurricane Sandy and the noise probably occurred as they were placing it in their Dumpster.

Nov. 23 – 10:36 p.m. -- A resident of Route 9A contacted Westchester County Police after she detected a strange odor in her home. County police and the Ossining Fire Department checked the home but could not find any problem.
5:51 p.m. – A 27-year-old Buchanan woman was issued summonses for talking on her cell phone while driving and unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on Route 9 southbound at Old Albany Post Road. The woman was stopped after Westchester County Police Officer Sean Armstrong observed her using a cell phone without a hands-free device while driving. After the officer detected an odor of marijuana in the vehicle, the woman turned over a small plastic bag containing marijuana that was in the center console.

Nov. 21 – 11:01 p.m. – An officer on patrol along North State Road observed that several street lights were not working. The town Highway Department was notified.

Nov. 19 – 5:39 p.m. - Westchester County Police responded to a residence on Ganung Drive after receiving a report of a domestic dispute. A woman at the home told officers that she and her husband had argued and that she had thrown a potato at him. He threw the potato back at her. Neither person was struck by the potato or otherwise injured. Officers completed a domestic incident report but no one was charged. The couple then decided to go out for dinner and left the residence.
