Police: Croton Man Gets Cursed Out by Mail

A summary of recent police activity and arrests in the village of Croton-on-Hudson.

I.C.E. on the Case

An Ossining man faces deportation after having a run-in with the law, Croton police report.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on a warrant in Croton on Sept. 11 for failure to appear in court for a previous offense. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials found about him and issued their own warrant for his deportation, Sgt. John Nikitopoulos said.

The man was taken to Westchester County Jail in Valhalla on $10,000 bail with an ICE detainee warrant over him.

Farmer's Market Harassment

One woman reported getting approached and shouted at by another at a Croton farmer's market on Sept. 11.

Both women have lawyers, said Sgt. John Nikitopoulos, and were advised to consult further with them about an ongoing dispute the women were having over rental agreements at the Ajna Wellness and Community Center in Croton.

One woman said she was scared by the harassment she was receiving and police told her to contact them if anything further transpired.

Graffiti

Criminal mischief was reported at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 15 on Old Post Road South on the side of Trinkets Jewelry where someone found graffiti. Police took photos and are investigating, Nikitopoulos said.

Really Mean Letter

A Georgia Lane resident came to police headquarters with an inexplicable handwritten letter.

Sgt. Nikitopoulos apologized for the expletives as he read the contents, basically stating, "I just want you to know your order will not be shipped. You piece of ____. Die in Hell, a__-hole."

The recipient had no idea who this was from and told police he had not ordered anything.
