Police: Croton Bank Teller Swipes Cash

A Croton-on-Hudson woman faces charges for allegedly stealing from the Irvington J.P. Morgan Chase bank where she worked.

Police arrested Holly Sweat, 26, from Croton-on-Hudson for allegedly taking money from her teller drawer and falsifying a customer's check, Irvington police said.

Sweat was charged with falsification of business records and petit larceny because police believe she changed a customer's withdrawal slip at the Irvington J.P. Morgan Chase Bank—where she worked—from $1,400 to $1,800, taking the difference. When the customer returned to the bank, Sweat denied having done anything wrong, maintaining it must have been a mistake.

"After the incident, the bank's internal investigations department must have raised a red flag around her name," said Irvingto PD's Sgt. Michael Foley.

Sweat was charged Tuesday with with two more counts of petit larceny for allegedly stealing $600 from her teller drawer on July 13 and $1,000 on July 21.

Police said the bank did an internal investigation before turning the evidence over to Irvington detectives. "It was a joint effort," Foley said.
