Pizza Deliveryman Knifepoint Robbery a Fiction

A dramatic story of a man being robbed at knifepoint by two guys in black masks turned out to be just that – a story, reported Tarrytown Police.

On Feb. 10 at 9:28 p.m. a Domino’s pizza delivery man reported to police that he had just been robbed on McKeel Avenue by knifepoint by two men wearing all black and black ski masks.

He reported that while driving down McKeel he stopped and got out of his car to manually roll up his window when two men robbed him of all his money after hitting him in the head and putting a knife to his throat. He said this had happened about 20 minutes prior to him calling police.

Officers searched the area for suspects and advised the caller to report to headquarters for further investigation.

The caller did not appear in headquarters.

Police contacted the manager of Domino’s in Ossining who said that his employee had spoken to another employee, disclosing that he was going to tell police he was robbed so he would not have to pay money owed to Domino’s.

Tarrytown Police Sergeant John Barbelet said he spoke to the original complainant on the phone who reported he was at the Domino’s in Ossining paying them money he owed. He did not want to file a report because, he said, the robbers only stole his money, $50.

Tarrytown PD contacted Ossining PD and asked them to go the Domino’s to arrest the complainant if he was there. Ossining police did so. Tarrytown officers then went to Ossining to bring the delivery man to headquarters.

Jay S. Pathak, 24, of Garrison, allegedly admitted to Tarrytown Police that he had reported a false incident and given a written statement.

Pathak was charged with falsely reporting a incident in the third degree, a misdemeanor, and released with a court date.
