Ossining Woman Pleads Guilty in Infant Death Case

Maria Villaloja was watching five-month-old Monica Yunga when the child suffocated to death.

The Ossining woman who had a five-month-old die in her home while she was babysitting has plead guilty to endangerment charges, according to lohud.com. Maria Villaloja was watching Monica Yunga when the child suffocated to death. Investigators say the infant pulled a blanket over her head.

The guilty plea, in connection with the April 2011 death, could mean that Villaloja will be sentenced to three-years probation. Investigators say Villaloja was operating an illegal daycare out of her Croton Avenue home. When the five-month-old died in her apartment, Villaloja was taking care of seven babies.

Villaloja's sentencing is set for October 31.
