Ossining's Finests' "Kind Find" Program

While many children or adults wander or may be in distress, those with autism spectrum disorders may be especially at risk.

The Ossining Police Department is participating in the “Kind-Find” program.  Kind Find is aimed at gently and safely approaching children or dependent adults with autism spectrum disorders. It is a voluntary way for parents to provide information on their children to first responders.

While many children or adults wander or may be in distress, those with autism spectrum disorders may be especially at risk.  Kind Find is a voluntary way for parents to provide information to first responders.  Many children with ASD may be unable to express themselves or ask for help. Some may not be capable of understanding police officers or other first responders and may become frightened by their presence. They may run away or even fight first responders.

Forms are available at Ossining Police Headquarters to participate. We ask parents of those with ASD to come and fill out the form. For further information you may contact either Lt. Dan Slater of Officer Marvise Rennalls at (914) 941-4099.
