Risko Music to Hold Ossining Fire Department Parade Party

Ossining residents Mike and Miriam Risko’s son was 2-years-old in 2005 when Ossining emergency service workers rushed him to the hospital after he got food poisoning.

“They were unbelievable and we will never forget that,” said Miriam Rizzo, a longtime resident and graduate of Ossining High School. “We look forward to cheering them all on Friday.”

The Riskos will again host their Ossining Fire Department Parade Party at Mike Risko Music, at 144 Croton Ave. in Ossining, which they’ve held annually since 2009.

“It’s a way to say thank you to all the people in the parade,” said Miriam Risko. “We think that supporting our fire department, police department and ambulance corp. is one of the most important things we can do.”

The Riskos are opening up the parking lot at their store for people to come and watch the parade at 4 p.m. All are invited to bring chairs and a picnic dinner to enjoy a front row seat of the parade, which starts at 7 p.m.

“We are welcoming people to bring as many guests as they like, even bring guests from other towns since there are always many Westchester fire departments represented in the parade,” said Mike Risko.

The shindig at Mike Risko Music will have games, water, karaoke for kids and musical instrument “try me stations” until the parade starts.

“We are happy to be able to offer a safe, easy place for people to come together with their kids for this special event,” said Miriam Risko. “As parents of 2 young kids, we are always looking for safe ways to enjoy events with them. We have had our business in Ossining since 1995 and this is just a small way that we can give back to a community that has always supported us and all our musical endeavors.”

Many of the Riskos friends, employees and band mates are firefighters and police officers so they are excited to invite the community to celebrate them.

“As Ossining residents, we look forward to having fun and cheering for our firefighters,” said the Riskos. “We have a tremendous amount of respect for the people who protect us and our kids.”
