Meet Your Auxiliary Police Officers

It's two retirements and one promotion within the Auxiliary Unit of the Croton Police Department.

First, the retirements from active duty: Auxiliary Police Captain Lynn Sorenson and Auxiliary Police Sergeant Jeffery Weiss have served the Village of Croton-on-Hudson for many years, rising through the ranks, starting as Auxiliary Police Officers. 

Promotion: Auxiliary Police Officer Michael Burrows has subsequently been promoted to the rank of Auxiliary Police Sergeant to replace the departing leadership.

A description of the program from Aux. Sgt. Michael Burrows:

"The Auxiliary Unit provides extra manpower for the Croton Police Department and is supervised by Lieutenant Russel Harper, Patrol Commander of the Croton Police Department.

"The Auxiliary Unit assists regular officers of the Department in performing duties such as traffic and crowd control, event security and patrol, emergency response, and other tasks as needed.  Members are uniformed volunteers and designated as Peace Officers.
