Man in Closet Charged with Felony

The Ossining resident was already wanted on a warrant for violating an order of protection.

Alfonso Smith, 47, was sent to Westchester County Jail on a charge of first degree criminal contempt of court, a felony, after police found him hiding at a Brookville Avenue home.

Police were responding Feb. 1 to a 9-1-1 hangup call. The resident answered the door and told police she had just gotten home and had not called.

They searched the house and found Smith hiding in a closet, police said. He was wanted on a warrant for violating an order of protection.
