The Ossining Fire Department fought a blaze in a 3-car garage behind 49 North Malcolm St. on Jan. 2 that destroyed the garage and two cars and melted the siding on the nearby house.
The OFD also had to fight a car fire—as a car also went up in flames, said First Assistant Chief Matthew Scarduzio.
It took about a half-hour to knock down the fire, Scarduzio estimated. No one was hurt. The temperature, lingering at just above freezing, did not impede the firefighters, he said.
Firefighters were still checking for hot spots at 4:30 p.m.
With evening approaching, the volunteer firefighters were taking care as slush and ice formed along North Malcolm Street and the driveway to the home at 47 1/2 Malcolm St., where siding melted due to the heat from the blaze.
49 North Malcolm, now a residential property, was the original Northside Fire House.
