Croton Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene of a one-car accident on Croton Avenue that would require extricating one person trapped in the backseat.
The accident was called in around 5:40 a.m. on August 24. At first, it was unclear to responders if and how many in the car were injured. It seemed as if everyone was out of the car.
"Initially it appeared that nobody was trapped in the car, however further investigation revealed one occupant needed to be extricated from the back seat," wrote the firefighter reporter on Crotonfd.org.
Both Croton EMS and firefighters worked quickly to remove the rear door and extract this passenger. The other two passengers refused medical assistance, and responders cancelled an Ossining ambulance on the way.
The scene was clear by 7 a.m., with one patient taken to an area hospital with reportedly “non life-threatening injuries.”
