Croton Police: Rooster Rankles Neighbor, Trucker Denies Hitting Poles

A summary of recent police activity and arrests in the village of Croton-on-Hudson.

Feathers Ruffled

An Old Post Road North woman turned herself into police on August 21 for an active bench warrant. She had failed to appear in court following a summons that had been issued to her after police received a complaint for excessive noise from her rooster.

"There's excessive noise from a rooster no matter what," Sgt. John Nikitopoulos said.

Not My Truck!

Police received a complaint on August 22 at 6:35 a.m. that a tractor trailer had struck two light poles and damaged the cement barrier to the so-called pitcher tunnel at Half Moon Bay Drive.

The trucker told police at the scene that he was the one who hit the tunnel but he was not responsible for the lights. He said there was a white truck there when he arrived who had since left.

Village Receives Bad Check

At 10:31 a.m. on August 22, a Croton village employee reported receiving a fraudulent village check. It hadn't been cashed so they weren't out any money.

Spare Tire Stolen

A tire was taken off the back of a car parked in a Beekman Avenue driveway, police report.

The loss was reported on August 23 at 6:23 p.m. from a person owning a Jeep Wrangler with a spare tire on the back.
