Croton Police Regularly Move Dangerous Debris on Route 9

On July 18, Croton police responded to an afternoon report on Route 9 South of wooden debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard. Officials got the wood to the side walking bridge and notified DPW for removal.

On the 20th, police did the same for a report of a large metal table obstructing the roadway of Route 9 North that morning. They found the table and again moved it to the side shoulder for DPW to clear away later.

There have been other obstructions recently on Route 9: a truck tire, tree limban air conditioner.

When asked if he could name the strangest thing he's found on Route 9, Sgt. John Nikitopoulos said there's items so many he couldn't say. "There's a lot of things," he said.

He thought there was nothing particular about this stretch of Route 9 that might it more prone to items falling off cars and trucks, but that wind and people not securing things sufficiently were to blame.
