Croton Police: More Graffiti, Same Artist?

A summary of recent police activity and arrests in the village of Croton-on-Hudson.

Possible Burglary

Police are investigating a possible burglary that occurred on Riverview Trail Road that was reported on July 22 at 3:22 p.m. An apartment resident said he was missing a good amount of cash from his home, but police would not specify how much or more information as the case is under investigation.

Police also didn't want to cause any neighborhood alarm as the complainant said it might have been a friend.

Brass Knuckles

Police arrested a 25-year-old Croton man for possession of brass knuckles. Croton Police had pulled the man over on Route 9 South at 5 p.m. on July 22, when they found the illegal knuckles.

Hazardous Hanging Wire

A Prospect Place resident called in a hazardous condition of low-hanging wires to police on July 23 at 1:47 p.m. Croton Police said the wire was found to be a cable wire and the company was called to do the repair.

Fight at Croton-Harmon High

Police responded to a call for a fight occurring in the front driveway of the high school on July 24 just after noon. They found upon their arrival that a contractor and a pedestrian had been having a dispute that was only verbal in nature and both were sent on their way.

Warrant Arrest for Dog-at-Large Summons

Police had to issue a warrant to a Riverview Road resident who did not respond to several summons about their dog-at-large. The person was arrested on the evening of July 24 and released on $50 bail with a court date, police said.

More "Child" Graffiti

Following the July 22 graffiti that was found in the Half Moon Bay parking lot with the word "child" on it, police on the afternoon of July 25 came across more that they suspect may be from the same artist on the Riverside Avenue walking bridge.

Here they found the image of a male figure, dressed in black, pointing at a television with a child on the screen. Police took photos for the record and the DPW would clean it up.

Town Supervisor Calling?

Police received a call about a suspicious incident on July 26 at 1:18 p.m. The Sunset resident said she got a call at work from a blocked ID number saying they from the office of the town supervisor. They told her they were at her home removing a boat from her property.

The woman told police she did in fact have a boat with the permission of her landlord.

Police went to the scene and found no one home and no one on the property.
Sgt. Nikitopoulos suspected it may be a prank call.

Tree Limb in Roadway

The DPW cleared a tree limb that had fallen on Grand Street and was leaning on the metal guard rail, partially blocking Route 129 on July 29 at 5:50 p.m.

Front Door Kicked

The owner of Ideal Kitchen and Bath on Grand Street reported to Croton police that his front door had been kicked and damaged sometime overnight. He reported this to police on July 28 just after noon. Police Sgt. John Nikitopoulos said "there's a bar there so it could have been anybody."

Wrong Change

A store clerk from the Convenience Mart in Harmon reported to police two suspicious males driving a black SUV that were apparently trying to scam her into giving them more change than they were owed.

The woman told police on July 28 at 2:33 p.m. that the mean paid for a $1 item with a $50 bill. She gave them change but said they took a $20 out of what she gave them and insisted they were short-changed. They argued and she refused to give more money back, sure she had it right. When they left, she called the police who were unable to locate the two men.
