Bronx Woman Turns Herself In

A 26-year-old Bronx woman turned herself into police on July 31 on a warrant for her arrest for various traffic violations in the village of Croton.

She was charged with driving while unregistered, unlicensed, with no inspection and tinted windows, and was released with a future court date.

Grand Street Dog Charge

A Grand Street resident with various dog-at-large summons was arrested on a warrant for not answering to these charges, police said.

The person was released on $50 bail with a court date.

Late-Night Basketball

A Maple Street resident called to complain to police that someone was out playing basketball at 3 a.m. at Dobbs Park on August 2.

Police found a Cortlandt resident there who said he works late in the area and just got out of work and wanted to play some ball, police said. He was sent on his way.

Dumping Problem

The Ajna Wellness Center reported to police that an ongoing dispute with a tenant had possibly resulted in trash being dumped at their front door.

The Wellness Center worker found upon their arrival around 1 p.m. on August 2 food garbage and water bottles in front of their front door. Police are looking into this.

Declined, Accepted, Declined

Two men may have made off with a lot of free liquor using a bad credit card, Croton police report.

An Old Post Road Liquor store employee reported to police on August 3 that two men had come into the store -- one of them whom he thought was a woman but was not, police said -- and tried to purchase over $462 dollars worth of liquor with a bad credit card.

At first the credit card was declined but then on the second try it went through. Later, the sale came back denied, but the men were gone with their liquor.
Police are investigating.

Motorcycle vs. Car Accident

Minor injuries were reported from an accident between a motorcycle and a car on August 4, police said.

A 911 caller reported a motorcycle crash at 10:47 a.m. on lower Grand Street, with a man possibly injured.

Ambulance arrived but the driver of the Harley Davidson bike refused medical assistance, Sgt. John Nikitopoulos said. He also didn't want his bike towed and said he would take care of removing it himself.

More Dumping

A Maple Street caller reported to police on the evening of August 4 that there was a good amount of broken glass behind her car and she thought someone might be trying to cause damage to her car.

Police found what may have been a broken growler there, which the DPW would clear.

Note: An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
