Croton Cops: CVS Evacuation for Gas Odor

A summary of recent police activity and arrests in the village of Croton-on-Hudson.

Drunken Disorderly

Police called an ambulance for an allegedly intoxicated man who was causing a disturbance on Benedict Boulevard near Young Avenue on Oct. 9 around 2 p.m. The 57-year-old from Chicago, IL was taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital, police said.

Disorderly God Parent

Croton police got a call from the Carrie E. Tompkins School to escort a man off the property who had been demanding to see his godson at 9:50 a.m. The school had asked him to leave as it was disruptive to the kid's day, police said. "He was asked to leave, and he did," Det. Paul Camillieri said of the 61-year-old man.

Fancy Flute

A 14-year-old high school student reported her flute had gone missing from the school on Oct. 10. However, the flute was located the next day, "somewhere on school property," Camillieri said, noting its estimated value of $2,000.

CVS Evacuation

Shoppers  in the Croton CVS on Oct. 12 were asked to evacuate when the building was cleared due to an odor of gas.

Police said the CVS manager called to alert them he smelled gas in the store. The building was evacuated and Con Edison was on the scene to fix the problem. "We're not going to take any chances," Camillieri said.
