Copper Piping Stolen, Attempted Break-in: Ossining Village Police

Thanksgiving week was quiet in the village of Ossining.

Nov. 24: A Spring Street resident reported an attempted break-in. Because she was unable to open her apartment door with her key, she called a locksmith who determined there was material left in the keyway that suggested someone had tried to pick the lock, police said. Officers searched the apartment for any intruders but none were found. The resident inspected the apartment and, at that time, it appeared nothing had been disturbed.

Nov. 25: A realtor inspecting property on Birchbrook Road saw that copper piping had been removed from a furnace and hot water heater. The agent told police that the pipes may have been taken by a contractor who did work in October.

Information is furnished by the Ossining Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
