Ossining Schools Capital Improvements on Track

New boilers, roofing and lockers are among the renovations that were completed this summer as part of Ossining’s ongoing capital improvement project.

Aging boilers in the Claremont, Park and Roosevelt Schools were replaced with new units that permit the burning of gas or fuel, according to Project Manager John Jackson. The new units will eliminate the need for costly, emergency repairs and will operate much more efficiently, saving the district money in the long run.

At Anne M. Dorner Middle School, new roofing was installed to replace roofing that blew off the building during Super Storm Sandy. In addition, new larger lockers were installed to replace the broken and outdated lockers from the 1970s. Masonry repairs were completed on the exterior of the building, and classroom space in the athletic building was gutted and renovated to better suit the needs of the district.

At Ossining High School, work began on the auditorium renovation and on the additional science classrooms that will be built to ensure access to the school’s award-winning science program. The auditorium renovation will replace an aged and broken ventilation system and old seating and upgrade sound and lighting systems.
