Show Your Selfie at the Steamer Firehouse Gallery

Ossining, NY -- Selfies, those photos you snap of yourself with your smart phone, are undeniably hot now.  Who can forget the one Ellen Degeneris took with a few friends at the Oscars? And how about the David Ortiz selfie with none other than President Obama?  Selfie, in fact, was named “word of the year” in 2013!

The Ossining Arts Council (OAC) is on the cusp of the trend with “Selfie,” a show of self-portraits, which will be on exhibit at the Steamer Firehouse Gallery, 117 Main Street, from May 9 through June 30th.  And the best part is your own selfie can be in the show!

Of course selfies are not new; self-portraits have been with us for centuries. Just think of Rembrandt and Van Gogh, to name a few.  And you can do the same in any medium you wish (including your smart phone), print it and make sure it’s ready to hang.  Remember, all media are welcome but the face must be your own.
