Rye teen located after missing for almost a week; residents, neighbors relieved

With missing Rye teen Pierce Crowley , residents in the town are relieved—and local parents are glad the ordeal is history.

Michael Carroll, who knows the Crowley family through Rye sports programs, was elated to hear Crowley was found in New York City, unharmed, .

"Being a parent, what other reaction could you have?" he said. "It's everyone's nightmare, so prayers were answered."

"This could have gone in a very bad direction," he added.

Carroll also commended White Plains Police, who found Crowley early Thursday morning. Police worked in tandem with a private investigator hired by the Crowley family.

Mark Saracino, a Rye resident who works at , had a missing person sign hanging in the shop's window soon after he learned of Crowley's disappearance.

"I have five kids, and the entrapments they can get into [during their teen years] are scary," he said.

Sarancino said the community couldn't help but follow the saga.

Mariam Torregrossa, another Rye resident, was impressed by signs like Saracino's—when she stopped by Port Chester recently, Crowley's face was posted around town, too.

"It's great, everyone helps," she said.
