Obituary - Michael Puchir

Michael Puchir of Ossining, long time resident and business owner, died on Friday, July 4th, 2014.  He was 92.

      Mike and his wife, Mildred established Ossining Hardware in 1950 and the business is still run by family members. 

       Mike was born on November 9, 1921 in Yonkers, NY to George and Julia Puchir.

        Mike served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945.  He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion. 

        On August 31, 1946 Mike married Mildred Weisensee at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Yonkers, NY.

         He was a member of the Board of Directors at Oakland Cemetery in Yonkers and a member of the Advisory Boards of various local banks. 

          Mike will be remembered for his love of golf.  He was a member of Mahopac Golf Club for over 60 years.

        He is survived by his wife of 67 years Mildred, 3 children, Robert, Carol and Diane, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  His younger brother, John better known as Red, also survives him.

           Family members who died earlier include daughter Elizabeth Julia, sisters, May and Helen, and brother, George.

       The service and internment will be private.
