Community Update

Dear
Supervisor Donnelly and all Board/Committee Members in attendance at
the Feb. 19th Meeting to discuss the "Ossining's Planning Board
Process",

I
want to thank you all on behalf of the members of CCO as well as myself
as a private resident of our beautiful town.  The fact that there were
close to 100 people in attendance, especially during the school break,
is a fantastic show of community involvement!

A special thanks to Wayne Spector, the town's Attorney, and also Planning
Board Consultant, David Stolman of Frederick P. Clark Associates, who
were both very informative and professional in their presentation of how
the Planning Boards Process works.

Clearly,
there is a great foundation of cumulative knowledge that has been
gained by each member of our various Town boards and Committees over the
years which inure to the benefit of our whole community.  The
willingness of the Planning board members, Environmental Action
Committee members, Consulting Engineer, Zoning Board members, Town Board
Members, as well as other Town Officials to attend such a public forum
is a testament of how special our town really is.

We all have a common interest to make the community which we all live in the best that it can be!  Having this kind of healthy dialectic can only strengthen our mutual resolve to improve the world around us!

No
matter the specific goal we are each working towards, it is extremely
important for all parties to know the parameters of how applications are
processed, whether they be approved, denied, or modified for
reconsideration.

There
are no "Bad Guys" in this process, especially if there is a community
centric vision to follow.  It is up to our elected officials to define
what the key attributes of our housing and business districts will look
like into the near and far future!

This unique gathering of officials and the community at large and the
fact that the community is so outspoken on the matter of the "Planning
Board Process" suggests that there may be a "schism" that is important
to sort out amongst us all.

We
all look forward to many more open meetings like this so that we all
can contribute our thoughts and vision for the community that we love!

Respectfully,

Howard Jay Fleischer
