Mayor Hanauer & Board Defend Turning Camera Off During Public Comment Section of Board Meetings...Demanding You Must Be Present.

As promised, I spoke and urged, along with many other concerned residents to encourage the Ossining Village Board of Trustees meeting to table the resolution naming a fertilizer company as the preferred developer for the 200 Main Street building (Clock Building on the entrance of Main Street, off Rt 9). The resolution got tabled.

 I also inquired about my FOIL request (submitted 6 months ago) and Corporation Counsel Lori Lee Dickson stated it got lost and she apologized. She said I should have just called and gotten answer instead of putting it in writing. I called the Village Clerk twice, and submitted an appeal letter after the original letter requested was never responded too. Why should I have to call? Just follow proper FOIA procedures in a timely manner. When did it get lost? Why no follow up?

Then I expressed my view to the mayor & board regarding them turning off the cameras why the public comment section. I stated the board was choosing what the public can & cannot watch, Mayor Bill Hanauer & Trustee Bob Daraio stated if anyone wants to hear the public comments they MUST be present at the meeting. They proved my point right. Why should they choose what you have access to in a public meeting? They said they don't want meetings to go later or have people make a show of themselves, however you have a right to watch, whether you are there or not. Most other municipality can tolerate, regulate and deal with it but we can't according to officials. Trustee Codman & Quezada did not comment on the subject.
