Ossining's Jean Claude Linteau Dead at 76

Jean Claude Linteau of Ossining, NY died on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. He was 76 years old. Generations of Ossining High School students will fondly remember Claude, who worked as the high school's custodian from 1962 - 1998. He retired in 1998 to care for his then ailing wife, Ellen, whom he had married on Febraury 27, 1970.

He was born in Donnecanna, Quebec, Canada on October 24, 1935. His wife, Ellen Churchill (nee Ellen Veronica Reynolds) died on February 25, 2001, after sharing 31 years of married life together. Mrs. Linteau's first husband, David Churchill, died on January 22, 1965.Claude, despite his vision problems, loved to walk all over the village of Ossining. He could be frequently found at the Westchester Tobacco Store on Main Street, where he would purchase his beloved cigars or at the Landmark Diner. Since his wife's passing, he would regularly take the bus to Croton to tend to her grave.

Claude's two step-sons, David and Robert Churchill preceded him in death, in 2010 and 2007, respectively. He is survived by two sisters and one brother in Canada, and several nieces and nephews. Locally, he is survived by his nephew William J. Reynolds.
