Edith Masopust, Lifelong Croton Resident

Edith M. Masopust of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. She was 99 years old.

Edith was born on December 1, 1914 to the late Joseph and Maria (Gigliotti) Scalzo in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. She was married at Holy Name of Mary Church in 1940 to the late John J. Masopust, II. She worked and retired from the Croton-Harmon School district as a school bus monitor after 28 years of service. She was an active parishioner of Holy Name of Mary Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Edith was very active in politics and was the District Leader of the Democrat Party.

She is survived by her loving children, John J. III and his wife Buffie, Gary S., Christopher J. and his wife Doreen, Joseph P. and his wife Mary Lynn and Anna Davis and her husband Michael. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her 14 brothers and sisters.
