Cruelty Prevention, Child Safety Expert Talks About Bullying

The much discussed topic of bullying will be explored at the Maryknoll Mission Center during September when cruelty prevention and child safety expert Adam Mitchell presents “The Kids Are United—End Bullying in Your School This Year.”

The presentation is offered for teachers, administrators, student leaders and parents on Sunday, September 22, at 2:30 p.m. as part of the fall Maryknoll Speakers Series at the Maryknoll Mission Center, 55 Ryder Road in Ossining.  Presented by the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, the series is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested and can be made by e-mail (MaryknollSpeakersSeries@maryknoll.org) or by calling 914-941-7636 extension 2445. Additional information and directions can be found on the Maryknoll website.

Among Mitchell’s initiatives is The Kids Are United Leadership Training Program that was created specifically for high school student leadership groups. At the Maryknoll presentation, Mitchell will discuss the harsh realities of ritualized cruelty in today’s schools and he will instruct educators, parents and student leaders about the key steps that create cruelty-free schools that foster learning. As he spotlights the dark topic of bullying and the causes of this behavior, the martial artist and youth counselor also will provide a comprehensive framework that empowers adults and students to foster immediate change within the school community.
