Love Yourself on Valentine's Day

Croton mom & bodybuilder Jennifer Minihan talks about when you truly feel the love that you have for yourself, you want to be healthy.

Ahhh Valentine’s Day!  What are your plans? Spending it with the ones you love, maybe doing something special with your kids or maybe you are treating it as any other day.  Whatever it may be I invite you to think about love not only on Valentine’s Day but all the days in February.  I want you to think about self love.  Now, I have to preface this with the fact that I’m a nutritionist not a therapist.  However, people seek my advice on how to “become healthier” or to make “better food choices.”  What’s interesting is that making better choices often starts with self love.  You love yourself, so therefore you want the best for yourself.  You love yourself and therefore you find time in the day to schedule in exercise or you find time to prepare a meal made with whole foods rather than processed. When you truly feel the love you have for yourself you want to be healthy, you want to feel great and you’ll be better able to love the ones whom surround you!  I’ve included some fun ways to love yourself not only on Valentine’s Day but on every day of the month!!!

Treat yourself to a massage; volunteer- it is one of the best ways to feel appreciated; mail a letter to yourself telling you how amazing you are, how much you’ve accomplished in your life and why you are so special-it sounds funny but I dare you to try it!; take a few hours with your favorite book or movie; make a special hair appointment; try an exercise class you’ve always been afraid of; take a warm bubble bath; schedule a physical!; make dinner plans with neighbors you never see; face one of your fears!; try eating healthy 1 day out of the week; start a journal; rent a funny movie and laugh; relax and breathe deep just 5 minutes a day;take a cooking class; take a pottery class.
Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
