Spartans Defeat Whippoorwil

Spartans Swim Summer Swim Meet Against Whippoorwil

The Ossining Spartans Swim Team swam to a 260-188 victory over the Whippoorwill Country Club in Armonk, New York.  Coach Mike Kane commented that “it was a great way to start off what we consider to be the fun part of our season.  It was a great opportunity for kids and families to enjoy the sport in a beautiful, outdoor country club setting.”

The Spartans beat up six lanes training daily at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center.  During the summer, the team swims in July meets hosted by the Northern Westchester Swim Conference(NWSC).  Last year, the Spartans swam undefeated against all other Division 5 teams, and advanced to Division 4 this summer. The Spartans will swim against other Division 4 teams prior to the NWSC championships later this summer.

At Whippoorwill, the Spartans swept all but two backstroke and fly events, and all but three breast stroke and freestyle events. Congratulations to the blue ribbon winners: Keila Alvarez, Katelyn Browne, Serafina Capasso, Alex Carrazzone, Katie Flynn, Matias Gomez, Sarah Kamal, Yousef Kamal, Stella Meyerhoeffer, Vlad Moise, Sammy Novo, Thomas Overacker, Lilly Pawliczak, Emily Rocco, Rachael Samuels, Emma San Martin, Nico San Martin, Dan Schatz, and Tara Tassio.  The coaching staff actively recruits interested swimmers of all levels in northern Westchester.
