Ossining's Patrick McGovern Promoted to National Guard Staff Sergeant

Longtime active member of the Ossining community, graduate of Ossining High School, volunteer with the Washington Hook and Ladder Company, and Ossining Police Officer, Patrick McGovern can now add National Army Staff Sergeant to his credentials.

McGovern – pictured here getting sworn into the Ossining Police Department in August, 2011 – has served with the New York Army National Guard in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He was recently promoted to Staff Sergeant with Company C, 1-69th Infantry for his “capability for additional responsibility and leadership,” said Major General Patrick A. Murphy. "Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential. These promotions additionally recognize the best qualified Soldiers and attract and retain the highest caliber Citizen Soldiers for a career in the New York Army National Guard."
