Ossining Mayor Bill Hanauer was married to Dr. Alan Stahl this afternoon.

Ossining Mayor Bill Hanauer tied the knot this afternoon. His Honor married Princeton Professor Dr. Alan Stahl. The wedding took place in Ossining's Sparta Park at noon. First Presbyterian Church of Ossining Pastor Lynda Clements presided over the ceremony.

Hanauer has been the mayor of the Village of Ossining for three-terms. He will be running for re-election in November.

Stay tuned to Patch for a photo gallery from the wedding, and videos. We will also have additional coverage tomorrow at 5:45 a.m., as well as in our morning newsletter.

Any couple, either straight or gay, who have been together for as long as they have did not have to have an elaborate, much publicized wedding. A small, simple wedding would have been sufficient. Were they trying to get as much as publicity as Kate Middletown and Prince William? And, of course, it IS an election year. The law went into effect last June 24...if they were so anxious to get married, they should have done it then.

Any couple who chooses to marry can have the kind of ceremony they wish. I say congratulations to Alan and Bill, and we are all fortunate that same sex couples CAN get married and live in peace. And that gay men and women can hold political office. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
