Today: Help Ossining Plan Earth Day Events

The Green Ossining Committee is gearing up for the 2013 Earth Day/Stash the Trash celebration.

Ossining residents, from the village and town, are invited to a planning meeting for the 2013 Earth Day celebration and Stash the Trash event this evening at 7 p.m.

The Green Ossining Committee will be taking charge of the event, which is tentatively slated for April 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Louis Engel Waterfront Park.

"The Green Ossining Committee is a group of folks from the Village and the Town of Ossining," Village of Ossining Trustee Victoria Gearity shared at last week's work session. "You may or may not be on either of the EACs officially or just a community member who is interested in environmentally-related issues."

Last year's event included live music, local and food vendors and more.

According to the Green Ossining Committee website, preliminary brainstorming for this year's celebration has yielded ideas including solar projects, craft vendors, musical performances by Briarcliff Manor and Ossining students, an electronics pickup, possible tours of the water plant and more.

"Won’t you join us as we continue to brainstorm and delegate duties?" the site reads. "More hands create less work for everyone."

If you are interested in participating, head to the Croton Avenue Village/Town Hall first floor conference room Thursday at 7 p.m.

Interested vendors can complete this form and contact Town of Ossining Supervisor Sue Donnelly at 762-6000 for additional information.
