Brian Conybeare: Enhanced Boater Safety on the Hudson River

Learn more about the enhanced boater safety measures on the Hudson River at the next Ferry Sloops monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, 7:30PM at Shattemuc Yacht Club in Ossining.

Brian Conybeare, Special Advisor to the Governor for the NNYB project, will provide a project update including construction progress, environmental monitoring and help explain the boater safety enhancements being put into place.

Don Elmendorf of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and project safety officials will discuss enhanced boater safety measures and answer questions from the audience.

The boater safety enhancements include:

  • GPS tracking for TZC vessels and barges
  • Extended U.S. Coast Guard Regulated Navigation Area (RNA)
  • "Slow, No Wake Speed Zone" in RNA
  • Proposed U.S. Coast Guard safety zone
  • New safety buoys and markers in river
  • Enhanced marine law enforcement patrols
Join us in Ossining at the Shattemuc Yacht Club, host for the Ferry Sloops "Music & Lecture" series.

Admission is FREE and open to the public.
 Come with a dish to share at 6:30PM and join us for a potluck dinner or arrive at 7:30PM for the presentation.

Ferry Sloops' monthly meetings are held at the Shattemuc Yacht Club in Ossining, NY, on the first Wednesday of each month. Our potluck supper begins at 6:30PM, followed by our meeting at 7:00PM and guest (speaker or musician) at 7:30PM.
