Last week, we showed our gratitude by coming together and sharing meals with our family and friends for Thanksgiving. Laughter, joy and memories were shared. I hope that everyone had an opportunity to enjoy the time with their loved ones.
Earlier this year, I blogged about my dear friend's son Chrisito, an 8 year old boy. Chrisito has the most severe case of a cerebral, progressive disease called adrenoleukodystrophy that has damaged the myelin sheath of his brain, severely affecting his central nervous system and his childhood. In February when he came to the United States from his home in Latin America, he was suffering from seizures. After nine months, numerous trials, medications and a bone marrow transplant, his parents have never left his side. Today, we are all grateful to see Chrisito in a wheel chair, without any intravenous therapy, slowly regaining his strength and speech.
It has been a long battle for our friends. But their love and hope have triumphed and they are able to communicate with their son through sounds, and slowly begin to enter the world outside a hospital once again. It is a true miracle.
In honor of Chrisito and other children fighting terminal illnesses, this Sunday I am participating in the second annual Make a wish Yoga-thon, to help grant 150 wishes for kids with terminal illnesses. I am hoping to raise as much as I can to contribute to this cause, as well as be with others to help us send our healing energies forth to so many.
As we rejoice at this time of year, take the time to remember how thankful we all are for all that we have.
On Saturday, December 1st at 1pm, join me in a family yoga class to celebrate being with the ones we love. Sunday is Make a Wish Yogathon. Please, participate, support any participants or support me in this heartful event.
