If you haven’t discovered it already, Croton Karate is a wonderful place for kids to gain confidence, strength AND practice a little yoga!
In the past two weeks, I was invited to guest teach at Croton Karate’s kids summer camp. The kids were phenomenal, truly enjoying their time at the camp and in the yoga class. It was my first time teaching in a dojo – or in yoga speak – on a super mat floor! The padded floor throughout the entire room opened up space for us move and groove, to ground in and connect, and best of all, release the fears of working with more challenging poses. Face it, when we do something we may not want to, we pull back. Our negative thoughts take over, and we resist the opportunity to and grow. But here, the fearful thoughts were kept at bay, and their energies were transformed into a higher one. Using their creativity, courage, and compassion each one took a stand and gracefully held the more challenging postures and balances presented in class. Even if it was for a moment!

Through the creative camp at Croton Karate, kids had a moment to connect to their adventurous side, yet also delved into their inner goodness and light within with yoga. A space of strength that is always there, to help guide them, empower them, and help guide them with compassion to themselves and others.
