Tomorrow's Commute: Too Early to Tell

The MTA is still assessing storm damage; major roads are still flooded in Rockland and Westchester.

Whether you commute by car or mass transit, your options for Monday morning are still up in the air.

The Metropolitan Transit Authority is assessing storm damage that includes water on tracks above and below ground; mud slides; downed trees and power lines and flooded equipment and vehicle yards and depots.

The MTA crews are cleaning up Metro North's Harlem Line—flooded at Valhalla—and the Hudson Line at Spuyten Duyvil and Ossining.

The New York State Thruway is closed northbound from Exit 7 to 20 in Rockland. The Tappan Zee Bridge is closed.

Also as of Sunday afternoon, Westchester's three river highways: the Bronx River, the Saw Mill and the Hutchinson River Parkways, were closed in spots. Ditto routes 9 and 9A in Briarcliff Manor and Route 59 in Nanuet.

Although it has been reported that Bronxville's Metro-North station escaped the weekend relatively unscathed, major flooding in the rest of the Village could affect travel plans and transportation into Monday. The tracks at the Crestwood train station in Tuckahoe are underwater, so residents will have to wait to see whether it will be opening tomorrow.

In Bedford, town officials asked people to seriously consider staying home from work tomorrow: there are many downed trees and live wires creating dangerous conditions for people trying to get from their homes to the highways.
