Thousands Without Power In Wake of Severe Weather

Residents of Croton and Ossining have to deal with power outages and downed trees after a storm tore through the region.

Severe weather tore through Ossining and Croton-on-Hudson this evening leaving downed trees, closed roads and power outages in its wake.

According to recent figures from Con Edison, 7,491 customers in Westchester County were without power, 1,306 of those outages were reported in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson. Ossining had 613 reported outages in the town and 1,920 were without power in the Village. Power is expected to be restored by tomorrow morning in Croton and the town and by tomorrow afternoon in the village.

Homes and businesses weren’t the only ones affected by the power outages. The storm caused the stop light on the corner of S. Highland Avenue and Waller St. to be out, creating traffic problems on Route 9. As of this report, cops are directing traffic on the scene.

In addition,  Croton Ave. was closed at Ferris Place with a downed tree and part of Route 9 North by the Joseph G. Caputo Community center was closed with police directing traffic.
