Single-Car Crash Closes Cleveland for More than an Hour

The driver hit a tree and overturned.

In an early morning single-car accident, the driver of a black SUV westbound on Cleveland Drive in Croton lost control, hit a tree near Thompson Avenue and overturned at 6:40 a.m. When police arrived at the scene the vehicle was smoking. Officers were able to pull the driver out of the SUV before the fire department arrived.

Police say the driver was up and walking around after they pulled her out of the 2010 Dodge. After she was pulled out, the driver was taken to Westchester Medical Center.

The road was closed, and traffic including school and county buses, were rerouted while officials cleaned up the accident scene, said Deputy Fire Chief Joe Streany.
